Introduction

This article describes the methods on how a PCS can be initiated, describing why and how each method would be used.

Overlapping PCS Processes

ADS allows for multiple PCS processes to run in parallel, providing the ability to complete the tasks of arriving at a post/mission at the same time as completing the tasks of departing from the post/mission.

Methods Available to Initiate a PCS

There are three available methods to initiate a PCS:

  • Service Providers at post/mission can create a PCS
  • Service Providers at post/mission can create an Account Invitation
  • Employees can create a PCS Request to the arriving post/mission

Employee Create a PCS Request to the arriving Post/Mission

Typically, it is expected that the arriving post/mission would initiate a PCS but this is not always the case. ADS allows for the employee to initiate using the PCS Request feature.

Who Starts the PCS

The PCS may be created by Service Providers at the arriving post/mission or may be requested by the employee. The employee should verify if the arriving post/mission has already created the PCS before submitting a PCS Request to the arriving post/mission.

PCS Created by Service Provider

If the PCS is created by Service Providers at post it immediately will show on the Employee Dashboard and the employee will immediately show on the Pre-Arrival list for the arriving post/mission. The employee will also not be able to submit a PCS Request for overlapping dates to the same post/mission.

PCS Request submitted by Employee

If a PCS Request is submitted by the employee, it will be submitted to the arriving post/mission for review and approval. The PCS will not show on the Employee Dashboard until it is approved.

PCS Tasks

No matter how the PCS is initiated, Service Providers have the option of starting or not starting the Pre-Arrival process immediately. Pre-Arrival tasks will only be provisioned and assigned once the Pre-Arrival process is started by a Service Provider.
