Introduction
This article provides instructions for configuring the synchronization settings. The purpose of these settings is to control how data and sections are synchronized between SAFE and the ATLAS Directory.
Accessing the Synchronization Settings
Navigate to Administration > Directory Configuration.
On the Directory Configuration page, under the Organization tab, either select the Organization or search for the Organization by name, then click the Edit button.
In the Settings page, navigate to the Synchronization tab.
- The Synchronization Settings page shows that Workflows Synchronization Settings are disabled by system design, and these settings cannot be changed. This indicates that the data exchange between the ATLAS Directory and the ATLAS Workflows module is set to bidirectional.
In the SAFE Synchronization Settings section, click the Change button to edit the settings.
When configuring synchronization, the form will include several fields. Below are descriptions and options for each field:
- Directory Org Entity Name: This field specifies the name of the organizational entity for which synchronization settings are being configured.
-
SAFE Synchronization Settings: This dropdown defines how data flows between SAFE and the ATLAS Directory. The options available are:
-
Do not synchronize: No data will be transferred between SAFE and the ATLAS Directory.
-
Bidirectional (SAFE <--> ATLAS): This option ensures that changes made in both SAFE and the ATLAS Directory are synchronized in both directions.
-
SAFE to ATLAS (SAFE -> ATLAS): Only updates made in SAFE will be sent to ATLAS Directory.
-
ATLAS to SAFE (SAFE <- ATLAS): Only updates made in the ATLAS Directory will be sent to SAFE.
-
Note: In most cases, Bidirectional synchronization is the most comprehensive option as it ensures data consistency across both applications.
-
Import SAFE Employee Section: This option determines how sections from SAFE are imported into the ATLAS Directory. The following options are available:
- Import and Create if missing: If a section exists in SAFE but not in ATLAS Directory, it will be created in the ATLAS Directory.
- Import only if exists: Only import sections that already exist in the ATLAS Directory.
- Do Not Import: No sections will be imported from SAFE to the ATLAS Directory.
Review all information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Important Note:
Two important considerations when configuring synchronization include:
- Customize SAFE -> ATLAS Directory Import Rules: This link will redirect you to the SAFE Sections Mappings page. This enables you to define rules for mapping SAFE sections to corresponding sections in the ATLAS Directory.
- ATLAS Directory -> SAFE Export Rules: This link will redirect you to the Sections page. Allows you to overwrite the SAFE Post Section with the corresponding section from the ATLAS Directory.
After confirming all settings, click the Save Changes button to apply the configurations. If you do not wish to save the changes, click Cancel to discard any modifications.
