Process Flow for Superior Honor Awards

Superior Honor Awards (SHA) will follow the Annual Awards process flow in the diagram below before being sent to the Bureau Awards Coordinator for processing.  Group Awards require USDH supervisor approval for each nominee on the nomination.  If one supervisor rejects an employee on the nomination, only that employee’s name will be automatically removed from the form and the nomination will continue through the approval process for the remaining nominees. After all approvals are recieved and nominations are funded, then the SHA will be submitted to the Mission's respective Bureau Awards Coordinator for review, voting and Sign off before being returned to Mission HR to take the final actions.

SHA Bureau Process will follow the process below. Mission HR will submit the SHA in OAS directly to the BAC for processing. Once sent, the SHA will appear in the BAC Pending Review queue. BAC will then review each nomination and either return to Mission HR for edits/corrections or assign the nomination to a Bureau Awards Committee for voting. After the Bureau Awards Committee Members record their votes, the Bureau Awards Committee Chair can take action to Approve or Disapprove a nomination by Signing off. Once the Bureau Awards Committee Chair Signs off on a nomination, the nomination will be returned to Mission HR to continue processing. Mission HR will need to Send to OPS and assign and Effective Date, Return the Nomination to HR Pending Review to downgrade and send back to the JCAC or move the nomination to the Disapproved List.
